Harbhajan's international career began in 1998 when he made his Test debut against Australia. He took 32 wickets in his first year of international cricket, including a hat-trick against Australia in Kolkata. His impressive performance earned him a spot in the Indian team for the 1999 Cricket World Cup.

Harbhajan Singh's international career spanned over 18 years, during which he played 103 Tests and 236 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India. He took 417 wickets in Tests and 269 wickets in ODIs, making him one of the most successful bowlers in Indian cricket history. Harbhajan was also a useful batsman, scoring 2,224 runs in Tests and 1,237 runs in ODIs.

One of Harbhajan's most notable achievements was his role in India's victory in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. He took 7 wickets in the tournament, including 2 wickets in the final against Pakistan. Harbhajan also played a key role in India's victory in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, taking 9 wickets in the tournament.
