DuVernay was able to recall being assigned the responsibility of looking over the house and examining the trash belonging to one of the juries. The duties she was required to perform left her dissatisfied and so, after deciding not to continue in the field of journalism, she was able to move into the industry of publicity. DuVernay joined a small studio as a junior publicist right after college. The DuVernay Agency is her first PR agency.
